Jesus Roberto Ortiz, MD

Dr. Jesus Roberto Ortiz is a graduate of Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas H. Matamoros, Tamps, México, completing his degree in 2008.

He completed his residency at the University of Texas Health and Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, in 2013, with an emphasis in Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Care between 2011 and 2013.

Dr. Ortiz is a board-certified physician with certifications in Family Medicine, Palliative and hospice Care, and Geriatric Medicine. He is the only board-certified Palliative and hospice Care physician in the Rio Grande Valley.

As a family medicine physician, Dr. Ortiz has extensive experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of standard and complex healthcare concerns, including chronic geriatric conditions and managing critical and life-threatening conditions. He specializes in preventive medicine, medication management, long-term disease management, hospice and palliative care for critical conditions, geriatric medicine, and pain management for long-term chronic issues.

Dr. Ortiz is fluent in English and Spanish.  He currently provides services at Valley Baptist Medical Center – Brownsville.
